- Let’s start with a blank canvas and take a fresh look at some geography.
- The first thing we’re going to do is add in the roads.
- The second thing we’re going to add are commercial buildings where people will conduct business.
- Then we’re going to have the residential buildings that our customers will call home.
- Now that we have the foundation of our macro market complete let’s add in the competitors. These are distributed throughout the market each one has an attractive aura that acts on consumers. The strength and scope of that attraction is different based on how the competitors are laid out in the market.
- As we take a bird’s eye view of this market you can see the red competitors network strength with the red grid. Its convenience is strongest at the store location and decays the farther you go away from the store.
- The red competitor has one store location with influence that extends for miles and one that is much smaller.
- As we take a look at the network strength of all the competitors you can see which ones are the most convenient to which residents.
- Your store footprints network strength is critical in winning at retail.
